Pope John Paul II Polish Center wedding: Alexandra and Chris

She sat with her hands folded in her lap, her calm exterior hiding the butterflies in her tummy. As her hair was pinned up, one curl at a time, she thought of the past 10 years of  happiness, and more importantly, the lifetime of happiness that awaited. Two buildings away, my Chris was helping her Chris take deep breaths. He was nervous, but so excited, to finally marry the love of his life.

They saw each other before the ceremony…Chris was absolutely floored by how beautiful Alex looked. The butterflies went away, but that didn’t change how they felt as she walked down the aisle, towards him and towards their happily ever after.

Alex and Chris, we are so, so blessed to call you our friends. Here’s to a lifetime of the happiest marriage!

Alex wore her grandmother’s ring from 1912, a family heirloom passed down from generation to generation.

Calm grace.

Meanwhile, in the guys’ suite, there was an anxious groom, calmed by two necessities: good friends and good drinks ;)

Chris’ older brother Greg was his best man. Love this moment between the two of them :)

First look! We have very few couples opt to do this, but let me tell ya, WE LOVE IT (and so will you!). Chris confessed to us that he was incredibly nervous, but I think seeing Alex before the ceremony, without 150 pairs of eyes on them, helped ease the nerves.

As Alex walked towards Chris, Photographer Chris and I hid in the bushes, creeper style, to get both reactions.

Not gonna lie, this moment had me tearing up as well!

Chris admiring his beautiful bride! I teased him after their first look about him tearing up and his response was, “How could I not? She’s gorgeous!” Don’t worry Chris…real men cry on their wedding day! ;)

This church is especially important to Alex and her family…not only did she grow up with the community, her parents met here and eventually got married in this very church. Alex relayed during their thank you speech that when the people here found out she was getting married, the first question wasn’t “Am I invited?” Instead, it was “How can I help?” Their big day was made possible by their tightly-knit community.

Such a sweet moment when her dad gave her away!

Alex and Chris also chose to spend a few minutes alone immediately after the ceremony (the 10-minute rule). It was pitch black after the ceremony, but technology is awesome and we were able to capture this. It’s grainier than what we normally go for but I love the feel!

Custom bobblehead cake topper!

I love their guestbook– guests signed the pages of a Bride & Groom cookbook. We signed the recipe for linguine and clams :)

Congrats, Alex & Chris!
