Jake’s 2nd birthday

January 30, 2011

Yesterday, Chris and I drove down to Northern Virginia to celebrate Jake’s 2nd birthday! I can’t believe the last time we saw him was a year ago. So much has changed…Jake’s vocabulary has grown exponentially, he can walk (and run!) by himself, and he can open his own presents. He’s so adorable! His little voice saying things like, “Choo choo train!” melts my heart every single time. :)

Here are some photos from his big day, which was a Thomas & Friends themed party…

He was so excited to open presents!

I LOVE this shot Chris got of Jake’s excitement! He’s like “OOOOH!”

The gift of the day came from Jake’s grandparents (Charlotte’s parents)– a Lightning McQueen self-powered car! Soooo awesome!

Of course, Chris has to commandeer him to playing with trains…(the toy he’s holding in the right picture is a helicopter)

Isn’t it funny that no matter how many cool toys a kid gets, their favorite one is always the cheapest one? In this case, Jake has a good run with a balloon.

He was reaching up for his balloon, which had floated up to the ceiling, and Chris stood over him and snapped this:

And here’s us playing with the front-facing camera on the iPhone. He was so fascinated seeing himself!

Jake’s ninang/godmother got him this ADORABLE set of PJs. I asked him, “Hey Jake, can I borrow your pajamas?” He gave me a very cute “No!” ;)

Happy birthday, Jake!

Bim & Andy: Anytime

January 12, 2011

Posted in anytime

We’re back from vacation and super jet-lagged! It’s been a while since I posted, so I thought I’d share some photos from Bim & Andy’s anytime session in Paris.

Bim is one of Chris’ classmates in pharmacy school, and she and Andy have been married for four years. He’s out in California as a math teacher, and Bim will soon follow (in 2012!). I have the utmost respect for these two because Chris and I could have very easily ended up in the same situation– in a long-distance marriage. I don’t know how they do it, but love prevails.

We did a quick shoot at the Eiffel Tower on a cold, windy, cloudy Paris afternoon. Don’t let Bim and Andy’s smiles fool you…we were all freezing!

One of the things I love about these two is their ability to make each other laugh, even when there are two cameras pointed at them (not to mention the billion tourists trying to get around us, heh). I <3 couples who laugh with each other! :)

I also love the way Andy looks at Bim…

One of my favorites from the shoot:

Thank you, Bim and Andy, for being our models for the day!

Sophia

Little Sophia. When I approached her mom, Gina (who is my coworker), about a shoot, the first thing Gina said after agreeing was, “She will NOT look at the camera! Good luck!” ;)

Gina and Sophia, thank you so much for letting me capture a day in the life of!

Check out Soph’s outfit…I wish I had this much style!

We started off at Starbucks (you know, fuel for the adults)…and being that Gina and her husband are Starbucks addicts, it only fits that their daughter is also…

Soph’s favorite drink at Starbucks is one of my favorites as well: Passion Tea Lemonade. What can I say, we have good taste!

We moved over to Locust Walk on Penn’s campus, where the sun was shining. Seriously, the weather was perfect!

As you can see, Soph is perfectly content with her collection of Starbucks cups.

I haven’t met Gina’s husband yet, and apparently Sophia looks more like him, but she is gorgeous like her mama!

Gina and I were chatting up a storm, when I looked over and saw this…LOVE the crossed legs!

Last but not least, here’s a snapshot of Sophia’s future. Gina told her to start looking around and memorizing where her classes will be in about 17 years. :) Soph took that to heart, because she tried to pull up the Wharton sign from the ground! We joked about how she was going to hang it in her room for inspiration.

Happy 1st birthday, Jake!

Last Friday, Jake turned one year old. As Chris and I were taking pictures of Mike and Charlotte opening the gifts, we commented that we still remembered taking pictures at the baby shower!

After braving through a crazy snowstorm, we arrived to the party a little late, but just in time for cake and presents. Jake’s party had a Paul Frank theme…I absolutely loved his hoodie!

After all the guests cleared out, Chris got this shot of one pooped Jake…

Naya

Naya is my coworker Jess’ daughter. She’s so full of energy, just like her mom. Naya’s dad told Chris and me on our way to their house that she absolutely LOVES taking pictures and that she’ll totally ham it up for the camera.

Not only did Naya deliver the cheesiness, she obliged to her mom’s request for a more “toned down” smile. After all, these would be going on their Christmas cards this year!

Chris caught this one as she was preparing to smile for me

Jake’s Baptism

October 11, 2009

Last month, Chris and I made our way down to Virginia for Jake’s baptism. As you dear readers may remember, we did a maternity shoot with Jake’s parents, Charlotte and Mike, and another shoot when Jake was a few weeks old. He’s now a growing happy baby, and we were so glad to see him after a few months!

Here are some shots from his baptism over Labor Day weekend.

The poor guy fell asleep before and after the water was poured over his head! So cute.

Knocked out.

The proud parents, Charlotte and Mike.

The proud godparents, Jenn and Fred.

Man of the day!

Jefferson 2013 White Coat Ceremony

Sorry for the semi-long hiatus, folks! We’re back with

This past Friday, Chris attended Jefferson University’s White Coat Ceremony for the Pharmacy class of 2013. He’s in the inaugural class (2012), so last year I was taking his class’ photos. This year, however, Chris was behind the lens! Here’s a sampler of the reception afterwards…

Lynn & Fred: Anytime

April 19, 2009

We shot our first couple today!

Lynn and Fred are our fellow Californians and Chris’ pharmacy school classmates. They graciously agreed to be our guinea pigs for our first couple shoot, and while Chris and I know we have quite a bit to work on (such as posing people, haha), I think we did a pretty good job! Of course, it didn’t hurt that it was a beautiful day in Philadelphia! Plus, Lynn and Fred are goofy as hell, so it really made things easy. :)

Thanks, Lynn & Fred!

I couldn’t resist, haha

We were intrigued by the dingy alley we passed by after lunch.

She really loves him, I swear!

I thought it appropriate to end with these two shots, as it really captures the essence of these two. This is what we dealt with during the entire session: all smiles and jokes. In fact, we got a LOT more funny shots than we bargained for, enough for a blooper album for them! It was a very relaxed environment and they totally put us at ease!
