engagement

Christine and Christian’s engagement session in Las Vegas was a ton of fun– I have a newfound respect for pet photographers after shooting Kenji and Mochi with the humans! Kenji is a big, furry ball of fun and energy, and all he wanted to do was get off the leash and run around. Mochi is usually a little more hyper, but she had just gotten a procedure done at the vet so she was a bit subdued. Nevertheless, we managed to get them looking at us a few times, so I’d call that a success! :)

We shot around the neighborhood before moving on to UNLV. The light was perfect and there were very few people passing through.

Kenji looks totally calm, huh? Don’t be fooled– he managed to bust out of his collar and take off down the path before anyone could stop him (more on that in a future post). We couldn’t stop laughing!

A little note about these first few UNLV photos: even though Christine and Christian went to the same high school and university (even the same college), they didn’t find each other until after graduation. Seems like they kept missing each other around campus! ;)

Happy Monday!

Christine and Christian are already married, but they’re having their big ceremony & reception this summer and wanted to do a set of “engagement” photos in their hometown of Las Vegas! Chris and I flew out to hang out with them for the long weekend. Here are a couple of sneak peeks…

Happy MLK Monday!

As I was going through Liz & Kevin’s photos for this blog post, I had a huge grin on my face– it’s so obvious these two are totally in love with each other and best of all, they make each other laugh. When we started, Liz said they didn’t take photos well, but I completely disagree! We told them to be natural and just act like they normally do, and we got these great shots of them laughing and playing around. It’s my favorite kind of session when couples are comfortable…not necessarily in front of the camera, but with each other. Like it should be in a marriage.

Liz & Kevin, you guys rock! We had so much fun, and we can’t wait for your wedding in July!

It was a gorgeous day in San Francisco, Sonoma, and Napa Valley, and we started off with the giant arrow at The Embarcadero…

One advantage of having two photographers shooting the same subject is the different angles we get. The photo on the left is mine, and the photo on the right is Chris’.

I LOVE brick walls!

One of my favorite shots, ever.

As Chris and I drove into the city, we were enveloped in a thick fog (like, we could barely see the cars in front of us!). I was super nervous that the Golden Gate Bridge wouldn’t be visible, but thankfully the fog had burned off before we arrived at Crissy Field.

Off to Sonoma and Napa…

Nothing makes you more feel more amazing than drinking wine on a balcony overlooking this:

Love this set :)

We managed to catch a little bit of golden hour on our way out…Chris found this beautiful archway and I love how the light gives Liz an angelic glow. Kevin’s one lucky guy! ;)

We had tons of fun with Liz & Kevin this weekend in San Francisco– not only did we get some great shots in the city, they also took us wine tasting in Napa Valley! They are huge wine connoisseurs and know a ton of people at the different vineyards in the area. Thanks to Matt at Del Dotto Vineyards, we were able to get a fantastic tour of the caves and taste some great wines. I’m far from having a great wine palate, but I really enjoyed trying the new flavors and figuring out what I liked (like a wonderful coffee aftertaste!).

Here’s a sneak peek at their engagement session…

Ashley & Ben: Engaged

November 8, 2011

Posted in engagement

This past weekend, Chris and I headed out to Valley Forge National Park for Ashley and Ben’s engagement session during the beautiful golden hour. It was our first time shooting in this light, but we loved it so much that it definitely won’t be our last!

My first shot. I also proceeded to yell out, “Did you guys practice posing?!?!” Their answer was no. They’re total naturals!

These two were my shots…

…meanwhile, Chris circled around for a different view.

LOVE. THIS.

Ashley is my coworker, and while she makes a wonderful research coordinator, I think she needs to switch to modeling (just um, don’t tell bossman I said that, hehe).

We told them to kiss, and then some little kids came running by. HAHA oops!

Ashley and Ben are avid bikers and brought along their bikes for the shoot. (Sidenote: Ben is 6’2″ and the seat of his bike was up to the top of my rib cage. Wowza!)

I’ll end with my favorite photo from the session…

Ah, New York City. One of my favorite places for day trips. I was thrilled when, while planning their visit from Las Vegas, Christine said she and Christian wanted to have their engagement photos taken in NYC. They’ve lived in Vegas practically their whole lives, so they wanted a change of scenery. New York definitely delivered (and gave us a free gift of thundershowers along the way), and we had a blast capturing their love.

They specifically requested this first set because that’s what they do at home: hang out in bed. Sort of how Chris and I sprawl out next to each other and play Words with Friends. hehe :)

I don’t normally do black & white photos, but I was playing around with this one and loved how it turned out!

We left our hotel and headed over to Central Park. I never noticed how green it is on the east coast until Christine pointed it out. “Nothing survives in the desert!”

We walked around some more, and all of a sudden, these huge raindrops start falling from the sky. I looked around to see everyone out picnicking make a mad dash for cover. We managed to get under a giant tree (thank you, nature’s umbrella) to wait it out. Our next stop was right around the corner, the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

We ended the shoot at the iconic Rockefeller Plaza.

Christine and Christian, I love you guys!

This weekend was a blast– our very good friends Christine and Christian came to visit us from Las Vegas! They got engaged last year and wanted us to take their photos, but due to the distance and our crazy schedules, we could never find a time. Finally, the stars aligned, and Christine and I were able to take a couple of days off work, Christian wasn’t scheduled to work, and Chris was ending his law review for pharm school.

I hung out with a lot of Chris-es this weekend. ;)

They decided to have their engagement session in NYC, and despite the thunderclouds and random bursts of rain, we got some good stuff! Here’s a teaser in front of the fountains at the Metropolitan Museum of Art:
