Shoshana & Danny: Engagement

April 25, 2011

Posted in engagement

We met with Shoshana and Danny for their engagement session on a very sunny (and windy!) Sunday, the day after a crazy thunderstorm. We started at Drexel Park, which is near their home. Danny is a PhD candidate in physics at Drexel, so it was fitting that we started their session here. :)

I was terrified that the park would be flooded from all the rain we got the night before, but we had gorgeous skies all around, and Philly’s skyline was shimmering in the background.

Our next stop was the Philadelphia Water Works area, which is very close to the Art Museum area…

The next two photos are my favorites from the session. I love how the wind picked up Shoshana’s hair! And the second one just shows how in love they are :)

Boathouse Row!

With the Art Museum and Water Works in the background, this picture is so Philly ;)

What’s a session at the Art Museum without the giant columns?

Another thing I loved about these two is how much they make each other laugh, AND they were comfortable in front of the camera!

Shoshana and Danny, thank you so much for spending Sunday with us! We can’t wait for your wedding in July :)

Sarah & Anthony: Engagement

January 24, 2011

Posted in engagement

When we were back home in San Francisco a couple of weeks ago, we were able to meet up with a couple of friends of ours, Sarah and Anthony. Chris and Sarah go way back: they went to the same high school and grew up about 5 minutes from each other. I met Sarah when Chris and I were dating in college, and we totally hit it off!

Anthony and Sarah met at our alma mater, UC Irvine, where they were both members of a group called PASS (Pilipino Americans in Social Studies). They were in LA back in 2007, volunteering at the annual AIDS walk, but it wasn’t until 2008 when they started hanging out, when a mutual friend got them together.

After a couple years of dating, they’re ready to begin their lives together!

It was a cloudy, cold day in San Francisco…

We headed to the Japanese Tea Garden at Golden Gate Park…such a beautiful backdrop for photos!

Afterwards, we headed over to the Embarcadero to brave the cold and clouds. Sarah and Anthony were good sports…though we got a quick look of horror when we asked them to take their coats off!

This duo picture below was taken with Chris and me on either side of them. Right side is my view, left side is Chris’ view. Same pose, shot at the same time, but two different looks.

We went back inside the Ferry Building to warm up with Blue Bottle Coffee and some macarons.

Congrats on your engagement, you two! Can’t wait to see you on your big day in July :)

Binh & Chen: Engagement

October 24, 2010

Posted in engagement

We had the pleasure of shooting Binh and Chen’s engagement photos this past weekend at their alma mater, Rutgers University. We were pretty excited, as this was our first e-shoot, so THANK YOU, Binh and Chen, for trusting us with your photos!

These two were in the same physics class when Binh was a freshman and Chen was a sophomore. During an after-exam review, Binh and her roommate noticed Chen, and they referred to him as “The Physics Guy.” They ran into each other randomly on the Rutgers bus, but Chen never noticed Binh sneaking glances at him as they rode to class.

One day, Binh’s roommate intervened and dragged her to the computer lab (where Chen worked) under the guise of making photocopies for a class.

Finally, a year later, they met, and the rest is history.

After walking around campus, we headed to the famous Rutgers grease trucks for lunch, followed by I’s Cafe for bubble tea (we on the west coast call it “boba”).
