Mel & Sam sneak peek

August 22, 2011

Posted in Mix Tape Monday,wedding

This weekend, we visited the east coast branch of our family to celebrate Mel & Sam’s church ceremony! They were married in St. Lucia last month, and they also wanted to have their marriage blessed by the Catholic church. Here’s a sneak peek from their intimate ceremony on Saturday:

Speaking of wedding ceremonies, I heard this song for the first time recently the other week (I know, way behind). Can you say warm fuzzies?!

“I Do” by Colbie Caillat

Mix Tape Monday: Dove Shack

August 8, 2011

Posted in Mix Tape Monday

Once the weekend hits, Chris and I sleep at very odd hours. At 5am on Saturday morning, we took a trip down memory lane by looking at old photos and finding songs from back in middle school, high school, and college.

Here’s one of my favorite photos. When we did our engagement session in 2008, we were messing around and our photographers snapped the big photo. Later on, we found photos from back in the 80s with the same facial expressions!

Here’s one of the songs that made us go, ohhhhh snap!– “Summertime in the LBC” by Dove Shack.

If you’d like to hear what we remembered (and most likely laugh), here is our old school playlist on Spotify.

Happy Monday, everyone! Here are more awesome Mix Tape Monday participants:

This weekend was spent gearing up for what I consider the last month of summer. I can’t believe it’s August already! It seems like yesterday that we were digging our car out of snow and braving record-breaking snowfall. Pretty soon, we’ll be right back there again.

This weekend was also filled with good food, good company, and proof that I carry my camera around nearly everywhere:

This song has reminded me of summer ever since I heard it in the summer of 1992– “Barcelona Nights” by Ottmar Liebert. No words, just beautiful music.

Happy Monday and happy August…enjoy what else is mixing around the web!

Mix Tape Monday: Spotify

July 25, 2011

Posted in Mix Tape Monday

Since the launch of Spotify recently, I’ve been hooked! I listen to music a lot while at work, as well as on the train and in the car. Prior to Spotify’s release in the States, I used Grooveshark, but there was no iPhone app (at least not without jailbreaking). Pandora was useful but I like listening to specific songs, rather than random ones, and the 40-hour-a-week limit was not cool with an 80-hour-work week.

I opted for Spotify Premium– for $10/a month, you get unlimited access to their music library both on your computer (or multiple computers) and on your phone. Awesome! We tried this out in the car with a 3G connection and it was pretty much flawless. Chris also tried it on the subway (underground) and it worked really well also.

If you use Spotify, here is the link to my work playlist. And, in Mix Tape Monday tradition, a song I am in love with: “Rabiosa” by Shakira and Pitbull.

Happy Monday! It’s a full 30 degrees cooler than it was last week, so I’m celebrating with these fine folks’ mixes:

Mix Tape Monday: Santana

July 18, 2011

This first part of this weekend was super busy, so Sunday made up for it– we attended a birthday party for our friends’ kids at Bounce U in Cherry Hill. I reaaaaaaally wanted to jump in the bounce houses and go down the big slides! I’m not too old to have my birthday there, right? :P

Speaking of our friends, you should visit their restaurant, Sammy Chon’s KTown BBQ! Chris and I go there once a week, and there’s always something new to try (though I’ve been switching back and forth between the ice cold mool neng myun + kalbi combo and the tuna dolsot). If you’re a fan of Korean food or a newbie, it’s a great place for a hearty meal and friendly people.

Here are Eleanor and Aliza blowing our their candles (they turned 5 and 3, respectively). These were shot at f1.4, 1/60, and ISO 6400 in a pitch-black room:

Today’s song to get you going is “Corazon Espinado” by Santana featuring Mana. We heard it at a restaurant in Philly and the owner played it again because he saw I was swaying along. :)

This weekend, Chris and I celebrated our 2.5-year anniversary. I know, it’s weird celebrating half years, but any excuse to go out, right?! ;)

Here’s a picture of Chipotle, which was where we ate the first time we hung out (we went to Disneyland afterwards. I remember telling my roommate, “Hey, do you want to go to Disneyland? I need a buffer in case Chris turns out to be a total weirdo.” HAHAHA)

To wrap up Mix Tape Monday, here’s one of the songs rotating on my work playlist as of lately: “Marry You” by Bruno Mars.

This weekend, we had the honor of shooting Shoshana and Danny’s wedding at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel in Center City. They were surrounded by their closest family and friends in a celebration of their love for each other and their cultural and religious backgrounds. It was absolutely beautiful!

Here’s a sneak peek for ya :)

And since I totally forgot it was Mix Tape Monday yesterday, here is the song Danny and their bridal party walked in to, “Lucky” by Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat.

Two things got me excited this weekend: finding the mp3 of “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj on Amazon for 69 cents, and getting my fabulous Kelly Moore bag!

I’m very, very excited to use it (and of course do a product review, hehe)! Btw, please excuse the cell phone shot of the dirty box…the better photos will be coming soon :)

And here is “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj for ya…this song has been on repeat this whole weekend. I like listening to it more than I like watching the music video. Frankly, the video freaks me out! :P

Happy Mix Tape Monday! Here is the link to Nina’s post with this week’s chain)
