Mix Tape Monday: Debi Nova

This weekend was pretty chill for us, so I got to sleep in and get a little bit of shopping done. I’m looking for an outfit for a wedding we’re shooting in a couple of weeks (read: I need a ninja outfit), and for the first time ever, I was able to find pants I didn’t have to tailor! The black top, however, was a bit more challenging to find, but I think the one I found is suitable.

Sunday was Steph’s parting bbq– she’ll be moving to the west coast (and stuffing me in her suitcase, I hope) at the beginning of next month. I’ll be sad to lose not only a coworker, but a great friend who has made Philly feel like home. Binh and Chen hosted the party, and Binh even made a beautiful flower centerpiece for the dessert table. Here’s a sneak peek of it, as I’ll be featuring this particular arrangement and some of her other creations in a future post. ;)

This week’s song is “Drummer Boy” by Debi Nova. It’s one that gets me dancing, even in my office at work (thanks Gina for making me listen to it). Happy Monday, folks!

Mix Tape Monday: Journey

This weekend was totally centered around food– I went on a cake pop making extravaganza and we took a day trip to NYC for ramen and pork buns at Ippudo! I was bored yesterday, so I wanted to surprise Chris with pops of his favorite baseball team, the San Francisco Giants.

San Francisco is one of my faaavorite cities to visit. We’re so lucky that Chris’ parents live so close; whenever we’re home, we make it a point to go into the city. While I was making these, I got in the groove by blasting Journey from my computer (and singing along loudly, of course, hehe).

Mix Tape Monday: California Love

Thanks to Nina from Love and Lemonade Photography, we now have a Mix Tape Monday feature on the blog! Last week, she wrote a great post about creating anticipation with a weekly feature. I was brainstorming ideas about a weekly blog post and came up with a bare bones idea for one, but Nina offered her Monday blog theme to the masses, so I had to take it up.

This week, I chose “California Love” by 2Pac. Last week, I stepped out of our apartment and was treated to San Diego-like weather. The mornings prior, it was in the mid-70s and HUMID out here in Philly, so that day was a nice treat. Unfortunately, it also made me miss home like crazy! I’m not a fan of humidity at 8 in the morning (or any time of day, for that matter– I was definitely spoiled in San Diego).

Since flowers also remind me of So Cal, here are some beautiful peonies I saw at Wegmans. Happy Monday, everyone!
